GALERÍAS ALEDDIN / RUG GUIDE
Choosing a rug
with intention.
A guide to looking beyond colour and finding a piece that works in your room.
01Classic or modern
Classic rugs often organise their design around ornamental motifs, medallions or borders. Modern rugs may explore abstraction, geometry or textured surfaces. A style does not require furniture from the same period: contrast can also create balance.
02The scale of the room
Measure the room and map out the sofa, chairs and walkways. Before choosing, mark the rug outline with removable tape suitable for your floor. This helps you check how the proportions work with your furniture.
03Texture and construction
Ask about the fibre and construction of each piece: a photograph alone cannot confirm them. Texture, thickness and finish affect how a rug feels and how it works with furniture.
04Colour and light
Consider the tones alongside your wood, textiles and walls. Lighting can change how a colour appears; compare the piece in person when possible.
05Use and care
Consider foot traffic, pets, children and everyday use. Ask for care instructions specific to the maker or piece, and check which non-slip underlay suits your floor.
06Before deciding
Confirm size, composition, construction, price, availability and delivery arrangements with the gallery. Keep the catalog reference so your enquiry is precise.
